 ”I’M YOUR’S” by Jason Miraz

[Hear it at Project Playlist: Click HERE]

Well, you done done me in your bed I felt it
I tried to be chill but you’re so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
Now I’m tryin’ to get back

Before the cool done run out I’ll be givin’ it my bestest
An’ nothin’s gonna stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it’s again my turn
To win some or learn some

But, I won’t hesitate no more
No more, it cannot wait, I’m your’s

(mmm…) (hey, hey, hey, hey)

Well, open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find love, love, love, love
Listen to the music of the moment people dance & sing
We’re just one big family
And it’s our ___-forsaken right to be loved, loved loved, loved, loved…

So, I won’t hesitate no more
No more, it cannot wait, I’m sure
There’s no need to complicate, our time is short
This is our fate, I’m your’s

Doo, doo, doo, shoo, …
Ohhh… won’t you come on…
Skootch on over closer dear
and I will nibble your ear…

so doh doh boh boh boh …
whoa… oh oh oh oh oh…

(laughs)… mmmhmm…

I’ve been spending way too long checkin’ my tone in the mirror
And, bendin’ over backwards just to try to see it clearer
but my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face and I laughed

I guess what I be sayin’ is there ain’t no bend to reasons
an’ rid yourself of vanities, and just go with the seasons
It’s what we aim to do, our name is our virtue

But I won’t hesitate no more
No more, it cannot wait, I’m your’s

Open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find the sky is your’s
So please don’t, please don’t, please don’t
There’s no need to complicate
‘Cause our time is short
This, oh this, oh this is our fate
I’m your’s….

The TWILIGHT Series

August 7, 2008

This past Sunday, my niece loaned me the first book in Stephenie Meyer’s “TWILIGHT” series, “Twilight“. I told her I didn’t want to borrow books 2 and 3, yet, as (1) I didn’t think I’d get finished the first book for at least 2 weeks — it’s got 498 pages, and (2) I wasn’t sure if I’d like the first book, given it deals with vampires (though, I was told that the books were more about the love story between Bella and Edward, so that’s why I decided to even try these).

Well, what do you know, I read “Twilight” all day Monday, and had it finished in ONE DAY! LOL. Go figure.

So, I called up my niece to ask for the second and third books in the series… but, I couldn’t get them on Tuesday, and had to anxiously await Wednesday evening!

Finally, I have them! :D I’ll be reading for most of today, as I’m completely hooked! And, I made the mistake, on Tuesday morning, of reading the “teaser” of book 2, “New Moon” that’s included in the back of book 1… and I was left completely hanging!!! Ugh! So, now I’m DYING to know how things will turn out in chapter 2! LOL.

Yep… I’m “converted”. LOL. :P

New Book Club!

August 6, 2008

Tonight I’m hosting the first meeting of a new face-to-face (f2f) book group that I’m starting. And, I’m excited! :D

I love all the possibilities that come with starting up a new club. And, the fact that I don’t really know the ladies who’ll be joining me is a little exciting, too, as I’ll be making some new friends! :)

I have belonged to a different f2f book group since 2004, but I’ve recently been feeling very dissatisfied there. The ladies are all older than me by at least 20-25 years, and they’re all of the same profession … a profession which I do NOT belong to. Therefore, they all talk about their job(s) during our meetings, and the book rarely gets discussed. That’s frustrating.

I mean, when I joined the book group, I had looked forward to discussing the books — the purpose of a book group. And, I don’t entirely mind the off-topic chatter, as it’s interesting to hear what they have to say, and it makes the evening full of laughter. But, I’d like for that chatter to be minimal, and the book discussion to be the focal point of the evening. Yes, occasionally these ladies remember that we’re a BOOK group, and they do talk about the book. And, that’s why I’ve stayed — there is at least some book talk. But, for the most part, the book talk is minimal, and the off-topic stuff is more prominent for them.

Hence why I’m attempting to start up my own book group.

So, I will update this post, later, and let you know how our first meeting went. Tonight we’ll be just discussing the club’s operation — when to meet, where to meet, what to read, etc — and choosing our first book(s).

UPDATED TO ADD:

The new book group’s first meeting went well, I think! There were 3 ladies, plus myself. We had at least 2 or 3 people missing (either on vacation, or just too busy to make it out this time). We decided on our first book, too:

The Other Boleyn Girl” by Philippa Gregory

I’m quite pleased with this choice, as it’s on my Raved-About Reads Challenge list! I’ll be happy to have an excuse to read it, and it will be good for discussion, I’m sure (I’ve read other books in this “series” by this same author, and they were good books… definitely stuff that would make for good discussion!)

We also decided on a few aspects of how the group will operate:

* we’ll meet once every 6 weeks
* we’ll meet in members’ homes, rotating each month
* we’ll meet on Wednesday or Thursday evenings (depending on what works for the ladies who weren’t there this time)
* we’ll set aside a time for “chit-chat” at the beginning of every meeting, and then call the meeting “to order” and talk (mostly) about the book. ;)

Introduction

August 6, 2008

This blog is a place for me — a book lover — to ramble about daily life, or share the occasional interesting thing I’ve found elsewhere online (memes, etc).

I wanted a place where I could ramble about more than just books — I didn’t want to clutter up my main book blog with that sort of thing.

So, thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for more! :D
